FFA Opportunities in the Agribuisness and Plant Systems Pathways
Wow! Welcome back to the series of opportunities within the agricultural pathways! This week, we are discussing the agribusiness and plant systems pathways! Agribusiness Pathway
-Agricultural Communications: In this CDE, students will serve as media consultants to develop a written plan of action, and present the plan to a panel of judges. Individually, you will complete practicums, a quiz, and complete an editing exercise.
-Agricultural Issues Forum: In this LDE, your team will present over a current agricultural issue. Your team will have a portfolio, be asked questions and have the group presentation contribute to your final score.
-Agricultural Sales: In this CDE, your team of 4 will be given a sample product, product information and customer profiles, where your team will come up with a marketing plan together. Individually, you will complete a written exam over the area of ag sales.
-Employment Skills: In this LDE, you will gain valuable experience within the interview process by submitting a cover letter, resume, complete an application, an over-the-phone interview and a face-to-face interview.
-Farm and Agribusiness Management: In this CDE, you will learn business skills that are applicable to agribusinesses. You will demonstrate your knowledge of their ability to analyze agribusiness management information, apply economic knowledge, and concepts of business management, all within a team of 4.
-Marketing Plan: In this CDE, you will develop a marketing plan to demonstrate marketing skills for a local agribusiness in a team of 3.
Plant Systems Pathway
-Agronomy: In this CDE, your team of 4 will evaluate an agronomic scenario and create a crop management plan. Individually, you will complete a written exam, identify plants and soil types, evaluate commodities, create a pest management plan, and deomstrate equipment knowledge.
-Floriculture: In this CDE, you will evaluate floral arrangements, identify plants, and demonstrate knowledge of creating flower arrangements, propagation and preparing products to sell.
-Forestry: In this CDE, you will demonstrate your knowledge of forest disorders, managing forests, and forest inventory.
-Nursery/Landscape: This CDE will test your knowledge of maintaining landscape plants, evaluating equipment and performing landscape design.
